Finally the weekend is upon students and teachers everywhere. Overall the week went well, nothing too hectic. The quarter ended smoothly with a unit test on Ecology, my favorite topic to teach. Unfortunately the averages where lower than I would have liked to see on the test, oh well maybe the kids will make up for the poor scores on the multiple choice section by coming through strong on the essay portion (to be graded tomorrow!).
New Mexico is cooling off slowly. Mornings are in the 40's with afternoons getting into the 60's. I forgot how cool nights get at 6,500 ft. It definitely makes dressing for work interesting, my room is freezing in the morning and hot box by noon. My students are not shy about letting me know that my room is uncomfortable.
Today I will be heading to McGaffey Wildlife Center for the annual Gallup Trails 2010 "shin-dig". It's a celebration of mountain biking, good food and local brews (I will be abstaining of course). See below for more information if anyone is interested.

I haven't found a good deal on a trail bike yet, for that matter I still am procrastinating on gtting my $80 commuter bike in serviceable shape!
Overall my experiences here in Gallup have ranged from the absurd to the truly enlightening. I am forced by the nature of my surroundings to constantly be looking inward, while always being aware of the outward.
